Puthu Vazhvu Poonga school for special needs children school’s playroom transformation

Puth Vazhvu Poonga school for special needs children (Vavuniya) provides education for 72 children.  The school is run by the Organization for Rehabilitation of the Handicapped (ORHAN), which has been serving the special needs community of the Northern province since 1999.  Currently, ORHAN consists of 460 members.  The school provides special education and training, including sign language training, speech training and vocational training.  It provides supporting services, including physical therapy, yoga and sports.

LetUsHelpNow assisted in upgrading the playroom to benefit the diverse beneficiaries at the home.  The playroom walls were beautifully painted with engaging murals. Windows were replaced.  New furniture, floor mats and television were provided. More importantly, new play equipment, including play setup for visually impaired children were set up.

A simple opening ceremony was held on 23/03/2002.  Children, parents, ORHAN home’s administrators, stewards and community leaders participated in the event. The playroom was opened by Theepikan, a student of the home. Several trees were planted at the conclusion of the event by children and guests.

The budget for the January project was LKR 1,000,000.  The funds were donated by 103 LetUsHelpNow contributors from Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.  The transformed playroom photos, receipts and thank you letters provided by the home were shared with the donors.

• The entire team at ORHAN, including Jeyakaladevi (manager), Kalaivani Amirthalingam
• (principal), Amuthavasan (administrative officer), Thivakar (coordinator), chair Dr. P.Sathiyanathan, treasurer Thevamohan teachers, and staff collaborated and moved the project forward in every step of the way.
• Principal Kaneeswaran (Puthukulam Pandithamani Kanpathipillai Vithiyalam) enthusiastically assisted us with tree planting. 

72 விசேட தேவையுள்ள சிறுவர்களுக்கு பயிற்சிகளை வழங்கும் புது வாழ்வு பூங்கா பாடசாலையானது வலுவிழந்தோர் புனர்வாழ்வு நிறுவனம் ORHAN ( வவுனியா மாவட்டம்) இனால் வார நாட்களில் நடாத்தப்படுகிறது. வலுவிழந்தோர் புனர்வாழ்வு நிறுவனம், 1999 ம் ஆண்டிலிருந்து வட மாகாணத்தில் சேவையாற்றி வருவதுடன் 460 அங்கத்தவர்களை கொண்டுள்ளது. இச்சிறுவர்களை நாளாந்தம் அவர்கள் இல்லங்களிலிருந்து அழைத்து வந்து  நாளாந்த வாழ்வியற் பயிற்சி, பேச்சு மற்றும் சைகை மொழிப் பயிற்சி, இயன் மருத்துவம், தொழிற் பயிற்சி, விளையாட்டு பயிற்சி மற்றும் யோகா பயிற்சிகள் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன.

இங்கிருந்த விளையாட்டு அறையினை நடைமுறைக்குகந்த  மென்மையான அதே நேரம் இலகு பாராமரிப்பு உள்ளதாக மாற்றி தொலைக்காட்சிப்பெட்டி,  விளையாட்டுப் பொருட்களுக்கான அலுமாரிகள், விசேட தேவையுள்ளோருக்கான விளையாட்டுப் பொருட்கள்,  யன்னல் கதவுகள், அறைக்கதவு,  மின்விசிறிகள், சுவரோவியங்கள், விழிப்புலனற்ற சிறுவர்களுக்கான நடை பாதையும் விளையாட்டுப் பொருட்கள் என இங்குள்ள அனைத்து சிறார்களும் பயன் தரும் வண்ணம் மெருகூட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதனை கடந்த  23/03/2002 ம்  திகதி எளிமையாகவும் சிறப்பாகவும் திறந்து திறந்து வைத்தார்கள். திறப்பு விழாவில் இப்பாடசாலை சிறுவர்கள், பெற்றோர்கள்,  ORHAN  நிறுவன அறங்காவலர்கள்,  பாடசாலை நிறுவாக அங்கத்தவர்கள், பாடசாலை அதிபர், ஆசிரியர்கள் கலந்து சிறப்பித்தனர். விளையாட்டு அறையினை இப்பாடசாலை மாணவன் செல்வன். தீபிகன் திறந்து வைத்தார். அத்துடன் இந்திகழ்வில் இறுதியில் பாடசாலை சிறுவர்களால்  மரக்கன்றுகள் நடப்பட்டன

இம்மாத செயற்றிட்ட நிதியான ரூபா 1,000,000 அறம் செய்வோம் அறக்கட்டளையின் கனடா, அவுஸ்திரேலியா, பிரித்தானியாவில் வாழும் 103 தன்னார்வ நண்பர்களால் வழங்கப்பட்டது.  இல்லத்தின் உத்தியோகபூர்வ பற்றுச்சீட்டும் நன்றிக்கடிதமும் பெறப்பட்டு நன்கொடையாளர்களிடம் பகிரப்பட்டது.
